University enrollment up at Suncrest College

YORKTON, SK — As Suncrest College continues its second year in existence, University enrollment at the College is up according to the latest admissions figures.

Looking at the numbers, overall University enrollments at the College are up by 25 per cent in comparison to 2023-24 figures.

“The continued growth in our university enrollments tells us that students recognize the value we provide,” said Suncrest College President & CEO, Alison Dubreuil. “Our students start their journey with a strong foundation here at Suncrest, which translates to lower debt, greater personalized support, and a smoother transition to further studies. This foundation not only supports academic achievement but also sets our students up for greater long-term success as they advance in their chosen fields.”

First year Suncrest university student Ewen Hutzul says the smaller class sizes feel more like what he’s used to, and that he enjoys building up rapport with Instructors, something he doesn't think he'd get in a larger institution.

"Right now I get to stay home with my parents, my brothers, my cats — I don't have to pay rent," Hutzul said.

Hutzul plans to complete his entire Bachelor of Science in Nursing with the University of Saskatchewan at Suncrest College.

Suncrest College’s university programming continues to grow with the introduction of two options for first-year university students: a Liberal Arts Certificate and a Justice Studies Certificate. These new programs provide students with focused pathways to build foundational skills without having to commit to a four-year degree.

“Our new Liberal Arts and Justice Studies certificates open up even more opportunities for students to explore diverse disciplines while building a strong academic foundation,” said Suncrest College Vice President of Academics and Learner Engagement, Teri Thompson. “These programs offer a robust start for those interested in careers across a variety of sectors, from public service to social advocacy.”

Suncrest College has set its sights on another strong year of enrollments with the return of Win Your Tuition, aimed at supporting prospective students who apply early. Admissions for the 2025-26 academic year opened on October 1, and Win Your Tuition runs until December 19, 2024. Students applying to eligible programs before that date will be entered into a draw to win a one-time tuition reimbursement of up to $7,000.
