Suncrest College and Yellow Quill First Nation have formalized a new partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on August 26, 2026, marking an important step toward strengthening education, training, and community-based opportunities for learners and community members.
The signing ceremony, held in Yellow Quill First Nation, brought together leadership from both organizations, including representatives from Chief and Council of Yellow Quill First Nation and senior leadership from Suncrest College.
The MOU provides a framework for Yellow Quill First Nation and Suncrest College to work together to increase access to culturally relevant education and training, support skills development aligned with labour market needs, foster pathways to employment, and enhance collaboration on strategic initiatives. As the relationship develops, both partners will have opportunities to build capacity, share knowledge, and learn from one another.
Chief of Yellow Quill First Nation, John Machiskinic, emphasized the importance of partnerships that respect community voice and create tangible benefits for members, including education and employment opportunities.

Suncrest College President and CEO, Alison Dubreuil, said the agreement creates an opportunity for the College to work alongside Yellow Quill First Nation in ways that are responsive to the community’s priorities and future needs.

The community is a member of the Saskatoon Tribal Council and has a population around 2,800 to 3,100 total registered members, with roughly 800 to 900 living on-reserve and others residing off-reserve in urban centers like Saskatoon and Regina.
