Early Childhood Education - Certificate of Achievement (Part-Time)

Overview

This introductory program provides the minimum training required by Saskatchewan Ministry of Education in order to work as a child care worker. The curriculum emphasizes content and best practices in three core areas: Child Development, Programming, and Relationships. Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certification is required if you work with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children for 65 hours or more per month in a licensed child care centre. All applicants must apply directly to the Ministry of Education for ECE Certification.

In addition to the workshops and online meetings, a home study will be required.

We offer ECE courses in Nipawin, Melfort, Tisdale, Yorkton, Canora and Fort Qu'Appelle.

Individuals may apply for Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate of Achievement once they have completed the following three courses:

  • Health, Safety and Nutrition (ECE 142)
  • Child Guidance 1 (HUMD 183)

I chose College because it was close to home and I could attend classes while I was working. The best thing about College is the small class sizes and awesome instructors.

I would recommend the College because it is a great place to learn and the staff and students are awesome to work with.
