Suncrest’s 2023 Win Your Tuition presented to two lucky students

What’s better than giving away a free year’s tuition? Doing it twice!

That’s exactly what happened just last week at Suncrest College, with two winners chosen for the 2023 edition of Win Your Tuition.

In Tisdale, Jordan Marienhoff was awarded the prize. Marienhoff is currently an Office Administration student. Marienhoff said the prize will help her and her family, allowing her to focus more on her studies, and less on financial stresses.

“When I got the news, I think the exact words were, ‘You’re kidding? I never win anything,’” she said. “I didn’t expect for a minute that I would have won.”

In Melville, Jennifer Ruf-Wilson, a Primary Care Paramedic student, was awarded the prize. Her career goals originated from a personal standpoint, needing the help of a paramedic for medical challenges with her daughter.

“I know that I have a calling to be a paramedic and to be there for families in their toughest times, just as the paramedics were there for us,” Ruf-Wilson stated in their eligibility response.

“It’s surprising, and really exciting … it’s nice that it’s around Christmas time, too,” she said following the news.

The Win Your Tuition campaign was created last winter to encourage future students to apply early for their program of choice.

“We wanted to generate some excitement and allow at least one student to take a post-secondary program without the financial barriers of tuition” according to Jenna Niebergall, Manager of Public Relations and Marketing at Suncrest College. “After reading the over 70 applications from hopeful students, it was evident that many individuals felt that the money would allow them to be more successful by having tuition covered.”

Now that Suncrest has put a bow on the 2023 edition, the College is now looking for applicants for the 2024 version of Win Your Tuition. This year’s contest will run from February 1st to February 29th, 2024, with the prize totalling up to $7,000 of tuition for a domestic student who has received admission to Suncrest College. Students will need to submit an essay of 200 to 300 words, among other entrance requirements.
