Tisdale, SK — The Suncrest College Board of Governors is entering a new chapter, welcoming two new members while recognizing the contributions of a long-serving board member.
After seven years of dedicated service, Lori Kidney is stepping down. Board Chair Corinna Stevenson thanked her, saying, “We sincerely thank Lori for her commitment and valuable contributions, and we have no doubt she will continue to shine in all her future endeavours.”
Joining the Board are Marla Walton of Nipawin and Melody Kelts of Yorkton, who attended their first meeting on November 27.
Marla Walton brings extensive governance experience from 12 years with the North East School Division Board of Education, where she served as Chair and Vice-Chair and participated in several key committees. She has also represented Saskatchewan at provincial and national levels and holds governance certifications from the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and Brown Governance.
Melody Kelts is the founder of Sage Pharmacy in Yorkton and has over a decade of experience in pharmacy management, health services, and community leadership. A former student of legacy Parkland College, Melody has received multiple provincial and national awards, including the Saskatchewan Indigenous Equity Foundation’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award and the National Aboriginal Capital Corporation Association’s Indigenous Women’s Business of the Year Award.
With these appointments, the Suncrest College Board now consists of seven members who provide oversight, strategic guidance, and advocacy. The Board plays a vital role in supporting learners, strengthening communities, and guiding the implementation of the College’s 2025–2030 Strategic Plan – Inspiring Bright Futures for Saskatchewan.
“Marla and Melody bring an exceptional blend of governance expertise, community leadership, and personal ties to Suncrest College,” said Stevenson. “Their experience and passion for education and community growth will be invaluable to the Board’s work.”
