Program Index Corporate Training & Continuing Education Trauma-Informed/Sensitive Pedagogies and Practices Microcertificate
Certificates
Certificates

In partnership with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Professional Learning, the Child Trauma Research Centre is offering a microcertificate in trauma-sensitive pedagogies and practices. A province-wide facilitator community comprised of Saskatchewan educators have come together to create the content for this new microcertificate, working diligently to ensure the program is responsive, culturally relevant, grounded in Indigenous wisdom, supportive, useful, and accessible. This microcertificate offers foundational understandings of trauma-sensitive pedagogies and practices for educators in schools.
The program has been created in the spirit of two-eyed seeing (Marshall, 2012) and focuses on proactive, strength-based approaches for teachers, administrators, and all student support workers. Delivered through the Centre for Continuing Education at the University of Regina, this microcertificate consists of three short courses, each resulting in a digital badge. Upon completion of the three badges (two required badges and one elective badge) the Trauma-Informed/Sensitive Pedagogies and Practices Microcertificate is awarded.
ITTS
Designed for teachers, administrators and those who work with our youth, this introductory course is the first in the Trauma-Informed/Sensitive Pedagogies and Practices Microcertificate.
The words trauma, trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive, well-being, mental health and resilience are commonly and frequently being heard in many contexts, specifically in education. But what they mean, how they get taken up and what can be done are less explored.
Seek to support your growing understanding of trauma and how it affects your life and the lives of children/youth in schools. Each week will examine and inquire into foundational knowledge for those who work alongside children in order to support the shaping of trauma-sensitive spaces, interactions and practices.
Gain foundational knowledge with practical applications to support your personal and professional growth, which in turn supports the young people you strive to support. This course provides educators with access to current research and practical ideas to create and nurture safety and resilience for all on school landscapes.
