Program Index Health & Human Services Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Ultrasound
Diplomas
Diagnostic Medical Sonography, also known as Ultrasound, is a specialized profession that uses technology involving the application of high-frequency sound waves on patients to aid in medical diagnoses. This program prepares students, through theoretical and clinical training, to conduct Ultrasound examinations, focusing on areas such as obstetrics and gynecology, abdomen and superficial structures, and vascular sonographic studies. Students will be trained to work as part of a patient care team to assess patients and provide information to physicians for diagnoses and monitoring patients’ health condition.
The Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program is a joint program with Red River College Polytechnic in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This 28-month Advanced Diploma program combines blended theory with hands-on classroom learning and practical clinical experience.
